Our Materiality Assessment
At the beginning of 2018, we decided to develop a Materiality Assessment with an external supplier so that we would be prepared to report our social responsibility metrics and actions in accordance with GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) Standards.
During the Materiality Assessment, we listened to and acknowledged our stakeholders interests so that we would have a better understanding of their expectations regarding the design of our strategic plans that address the risks, opportunities and contributions to the Company’s Sustainable Development. The first step resulted in the definition of three main areas:
- Economic: Focuses on supply chain, certifications and reputation.
- Environmental: Focuses on protecting biodiversity, energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, and responsible waste and water management.
- Social: Includes all external actions that impact the communities in which we operate, best labor practices, human rights, and child protection.
These are the three areas on which the Company will focus its efforts, with our Sustainability Model guiding our social responsibility actions and practices.
The second step with our Sustainability Model was identifying specific KPIs for each area. We will measure these KPIs and report on them in the coming years.
